Swami Dayanand Saraswati
Swami Dayanand Saraswati was a great Indian thinker and reformer. He was born on 12 February 1824 in Gujarat, India. Swami Dayanand Saraswati promoted the idea of social reform and education in India. He believed in the importance of the Vedas, the ancient scriptures of Hinduism, and advocated their study and interpretation.
It was he who founded Arya Samaj, which was a socio-cultural organization. The aim of the organization was to reform the society based on the principles of truth and righteousness. He emphasized the values of truth, honesty and equality among all individuals regardless of caste or creed.
Swami Dayanand Saraswati strongly opposed practices like idol worship, caste discrimination and superstition. He worked tirelessly to eliminate these practices and promote rational and scientific outlook among the people.
