International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is a special day which we celebrate to protect the ozone layer of the earth. It is also called “World Ozone Day”. This day is celebrated every year on 16th September all over the world.

The ozone layer is like a shield in the sky that protects us from the harmful rays of the sun. These harmful rays of the sun are called ultraviolet rays (UV). These ultraviolet rays are dangerous for our health and environment.
The ozone layer helps maintain the Earth's temperature. But man-made chemicals, such as those found in old air conditioners and refrigerators were damaging the ozone layer. Therefore, countries around the world have decided to work together to stop using these harmful chemicals. This day reminds us of the importance of protecting the ozone layer and the Earth's atmosphere.
On World Ozone Day, people all over the world are made aware of the importance of the ozone layer. On this day people learn how to repair the damaged ozone layer, so that they can live their lives properly.
We also appreciate the progress made in repairing the ozone layer. On this day we also remind ourselves and others to continue protecting the ozone layer. We all must protect and care for our planet by being kind to the ozone layer.
