Vishwakarma Puja/Jayanti is an important Hindu festival. This festival is celebrated in the honor of Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect of the universe. This festival is celebrated every year on 17 September. This festival is especially celebrated in India and Nepal. This festival holds immense cultural and religious significance among craftsmen, engineers and industrial workers.
Lord Vishwakarma is known for building the heavenly palace of Lord Indra. He is also known for building the divine abodes of Gods and Goddesses including the city of Dwarka of Lord Krishna. He is considered the divine engineer who has created the most complex and wonderful creations in the universe.
The celebration of Vishwakarma Puja involves many customs and rituals. Workers/Devotees clean their tools, machinery, vehicles and workplaces. Devotees decorate the workshops and factories with colorful decorations, rangoli designs and flower arrangements. Special prayers and worships are conducted at these places to seek the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma. After the worship, Prasad is distributed to the people.
