Place of Birth and Parents: Lachit Borphukan was born on 24 November 1622 at Charaideo, Assam. His father's name was Momai Tamuli Borbarua. His father was a senior officer or commander-in-chief in the administration of Raja Pratap Singh. His mother's name was Kunti Moran. Lachit Borphukan was the youngest son of his parents. Their religion was Furelung Ahom.

Education: Lachit Borphukan was also educated in humanities and military skills.

Appointment and Designation: After being educated in the humanities and military strategies, he was assigned the post of flag bearer of Ahom Swargadeo.
