Essay on Red Fort (300 Words)

Introduction: Red Fort is the historical monuments of India. It is a symbol of the pride of India and the independence of the country. This magnificent fort is situated on the banks of Yamuna in Delhi. It was built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan. The Mughal rulers lived in this fort till 1857. This fort is made of red sandstone, hence the name of this fort is Red Fort. The Red Fort was included as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.

Construction: The construction of the Red Fort was started by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1638 and was completed in 1648. It took about 10 years to build this attractive fort. Red sandstone was used to build the Red Fort. Its walls are finely carved. There are long and huge walls around this fort and this makes its boundary wall. There are many grand buildings in the Red Fort, In which Diwane aam and Deewane khas are special sights. The Red Fort has two main gates: Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate.

Parade: Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15th August in the Red Fort, where thousands of Indians gather here. On 15th August, the Prime Minister of India hoists the flag here and guides the people of India by giving a speech. On this day a grand parade is organized in the premises of Red Fort. Indian Army, students, children and elders all participate in the parade.

Tourist Place: The Red Fort of India is famous all over the world for its attractive artwork. This Red Fort is one of the identity of India. Thousands of people from all over the world come to Delhi to see the beauty of this fort. People are very happy to see this grand building/monument. People are surprised to see the amazing artwork of Red Fort.
