Introduction: Qutub Minar is a historical monument of independent India. This is the tallest minar in the world. Qutub Minar is located in Mehrauli, Delhi. The height of this minar is 72.5 meters (237.86 ft). Its diameter is 14.3 meters (46 ft) and the summit/top of this minar is 2.75 meters (9.02 ft). There are 379 spiral stairs inside the Qutub Minar. Qutub Minar is named after the first Mughal ruler of Delhi, Qutbuddin Aibak. Qutub Minar has been included as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Construction: Qutbuddin Aibak started the construction of Qutub Minar in 1199, but he could only build the base because Qutbuddin Aibak died during the construction. After the death of Qutbuddin Aibak his son-in-law/successor Iltutmish became the Sultan/King of Delhi and he built three storeys of Qutub Minar and then Firoz Shah Tughlaq built the fifth and final storey in 1368. Red sandstone was used to build Qutub Minar.
