Importance of National Sports Day: There are many benefits to people from sports, such as: - Sports always keep a person physically and mentally fit, The name of the country and the state is laurels by winning sports competitions. Sports are also beneficial for employment. Therefore, National Sports Day is celebrated every year in India to make the youth/sportsmen aware about the importance of sports.
Purpose of celebrating National Sports Day: The sole purpose of celebrating National Sports Day in the country is to inculcate the spirit of sports among the youth/sportsmen of the country and encourage the players to make sports their career in sports so that they can bring laurels to the country and the state by winning any kind of sports competition.
National Sports Day Program: In India, National Sports Day is celebrated by organizing a various type of sports and events. A special award distribution ceremony is organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the high performance of Indian sportspersons. Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (now Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award), Dronacharya Award and other famous sports related award is given to the best performing sportspersons during a/one year. Sports competitions are also organized in many schools every year on the day of National Sports Day. In which sports are organized in schools like running, kabaddi, kho-kho, cricket, football, high jump and cycle race etc. Prizes are given to the students who have excelled in the school sports competitions.
