1) Independence Day is a national festival of India.

2) Independence Day is celebrated every year on 15th August with great enthusiasm/fanfare.

3) On August 15, 1947, India became independent from the slavery of the British.

4) Before independence, India was ruled by Britishers for about/almost 200 years.

5) Today India is independent because of the efforts and sacrifices of great revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Mahatma Gandhi etc.

6) The Prime Minister of India hoists the tricolour/national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi.

7) The national flag is also hoisted in schools, colleges and offices.

8) After hoisting the flag, the national anthem is sung in honor of the country.

9) Cultural programs are organized at many places on the day of Independence Day.

10) On 15th August, there is a one-day national holiday all over India.
