Speech on International Labour Day / Workers’ Day
Good morning everyone. I welcome all of you to the International Labour/workers’ Day celebrations. Today we all have gathered here to celebrate International Labour Day. On this occasion, I would like to say a few words about the important rights of workers. I hope you will like it.

We celebrate Labor Day every year on 1st May all over the world. Labor is very important in our society. The progress of any country depends on the workers of that country. No country, organization and company can develop without the hard work of the workers/labors. The economic progress of our country and society is maintained only by the workers.
I also want to tell you all about the history of Labor Day. In the year 1886, there was a movement/strike by the workers in Haymarket Chowk in the city of Chicago. The main objective of the movement was to make the workers work only 8 hours a day. But an unknown person threw a bomb in the movement. After this the police started firing to end the movement as soon as possible, under which some of the protesters died.
Understanding the workers' movement and their rights, America fixed the working time of 8 hours. Not only in America but also in other countries, the law of working 8 hours was implemented. No company or organization can force any worker to work more than 8 hours. The strike started on 1 May 1886, so International Workers Day/Labour Day is celebrated every year on 1st May all over the world.
Workers have a special role in the building of any country, society, institution, company and business. Therefore laborers or workers should never be discriminated on the basis of caste, religion, disability and they should also be given salary on time.
Today in this ceremony, I take a pledge that I will never discriminate and misbehave with any worker.
