1) Lal Bahadur Shastri was a great freedom fighter and the 2nd Prime Minister of India.

2) He was born on 2nd October 1904 in Mughalsarai (now Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay), Uttar Pradesh.

3) His father's name was Sharda Prasad Srivastava and mother's name was Ramdulari.

4) He completed his education from 'Harish Chandra High School' and 'Kashi Vidyapeeth'.

5) He was married to Lalita Shastri and had six children.

6) He played his major/important role in the Indian freedom struggle.

7) He had to go to jail several times during the freedom struggle/movement.

8) He gave the popular slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan".

9) He passed away on 11 January 1966 in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

10) He has also been awarded the “Bharat Ratna” posthumously for his loyalty to the country.
