Introduction: Lala Lajpat Rai was one of the prominent freedom fighters of India. Lala Lajpat Rai is also known as Punjab Kesari. He played an important role in the freedom movement of the country. He was known as the main leader of the Indian National Congress. He was one of the three prominent leaders of the 'Garam Dal' in the Indian National Congress “Lal-Bal-Pal”.

Place of Birth and Parents: Lala Lajpat Rai was born on 28 January 1865 in a Jain family in Dhudike village of Firozabad district, Punjab. His father Radha Krishna was a teacher of Urdu and Persian language in a government school and mother Gulab Devi was a good housewife.

Education: Lala Lajpat Rai was a brilliant student. He did his early education at Government Higher Secondary School, Rewari, Punjab Province. His father was also a teacher in the same school. In 1880, he took admission in the Government College of Lahore to study law.

Social Contribution: Lala Lajpat Rai was an eminent/social figure. He along with Swami Dayanand Saraswati popularized Arya Samaj in Punjab. He along with Lala Hansraj and Kalyan Chandra Dixit promoted the Dayanand Anglo Vedic Schools, which are today known as DAV Schools and Colleges. He was always ready for social service.

Freedom Movement: Lala Lajpat Rai joined the freedom struggle at a very young age. He devoted his whole life for the independence of India. He was one of the three prominent leaders of the Garam Dal in the Indian National Congress “Lal-Bal-Pal”. This trinity of Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal was known as "Lal-Bal-Pal". These three leaders were the first to demand complete independence in India and later the whole of India was with them. He always opposed the British government. Due to always opposing, the British put Lala Lajpat Rai in Burma jail in the year 1907. He had led the 'Non-cooperation Movement' organized in Punjab in 1920, due to which he was sent to jail.

Simon Go Back: On October 30, 1928, a huge movement was organized in Lahore against the Simon Commission. Lala Lajpat Rai himself was leading this huge rally against the Simon Commission. During this huge rally, they were lathi-charged, in which they were badly injured.

Death: Lala Lajpat Rai had suffered serious injuries due to lathi charge in the Simon Commission Go Back rally, due to which he died on 17 November 1928 due to these injuries. The whole of India will always be indebted to him for his sacrifice.
