Teacher’s Day is the national festival of India and this festival is celebrated every year on 5th September in India. This day is celebrated once a year to pay respect to all teachers. Teacher's day is celebrated in the memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great scholar, teacher and the 2nd President of India. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan birthday is celebrated on 5th September. He has given 40 years of his life to the teaching profession.

Once upon a time some students requested him to celebrate his birthday on 5th September, but Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan said that instead of celebrating my birthday, you should celebrate this day as Teacher's Day to honor all the teachers. After his statement, 5th September was celebrated as Teacher’s Day all over India.

Teacher’s Day is celebrated with great pomp in schools, colleges and institutes. On this day, students wish their teachers a long life. Students greet their teacher with gifts, greeting cards, pen, diary etc. Schools and colleges have cultural programs where students perform dance, drama etc. As we all know that our teachers play a great and most important role in our lives. Teachers teach students carefully and honestly. Teachers also build student’s character. Teachers help us to achieve our success in many ways like increasing our knowledge, skill level and confidence etc. Teachers inspire us to make every impossible task possible in order to do good in life. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the students to thank the teacher at least once a year. “Happy Teacher’s Day”
