First of all, welcome to the honorable chief guest of the day, respected teachers, parents and my all dear friends. As we all know that we are here to celebrate teachers day. I would like to thank my class teacher to offer me such a great opportunity to speech on teachers day. Today I am going to give a short speech on importance of a teacher in our life. 

Today is 5th of September and at this day we celebrate teachers day every year with lots of joy, happiness and enthusiasm. 5th of September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day all over the India every year. There is a great reason behind the celebration of teacher’s day on 5th of September. Actually, 5th of September is the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Who was a great scholar, teacher and vice president of India. 

Once he was approach by some students and requested for celebrating his birthday on 5th of September then Dr. Sarwpalli Radhakrishnan replied that instead of celebrating is my birthday only, you should celebrate it is as a teacher’s day to pay honour to all teachers for their great work and contributions. After his statement celebrating as a teacher’s day all over the India. Since 1962, 5th of September is being observed as a teachers day every year.

Really it is an honourable occasion to all the students all over the India. Teachers’ Day is observed to pay respect to the teachers of our country. Teachers are regarded as the back-bone of our society. They have the greatest contribution in building up the character of students and help them to become ideal citizens of our country. Teachers teach students very carefully and sincerely just like their own children.

There is a saying that teachers are greater than the parents. Parents give birth to a child whereas teachers mould that child's personality and provide a bright future. Thus we never forget and ignore them, we always respect and love them. As being a student, I always would be grateful to my all teachers in my life.
